Intro to the artists/creator: Scott MacDonald
"...I draw. Not as much as I'd like , or as much as I used to, but it happens. A simple sketch at work(yes, at work) one day while I was literally waiting for glue to dry, became so much more. I threw 2 things I loved together, beer and music. Yes," Boombox McBeerfridge" was born. With an old school ghetto for a head and a 70's beerfridge for a torso, the rest drew itself.
I've been drawing comics for 18 years in my spare time with friends growing up, and learned a thing or two about these little funny books we call comics. I've done a dozen full length comics in that time and you wouldn't know it by my art, but at least the storytelling is coming along nicely." Boombox" is
just a preview of what might be, with nothing for certain. This might be the last story he ever appears in, but I doubt it by the 12 B-Day cards I've drawn for family and friends that have his face on them.
I originally drew this story for a colour publication out of Victoria,BC shortly after my first comic work was published in a local comic book in Aug 09. The story barely had time to go anywhere in the
short # of pages allotted, so it was essential that the tone be right. I contacted longtime friend Ryan Getz (who is a technical wizard of all things computer and the developer of this wallfarmers site) and asked if he would help me to colour the pages. Not realizing what he had committed to ,he foolishly said yes(Just kidding Ryan.....MAD PROPS!). This is the first web comic that I have to offer to the wallfarmers community, but have plans to showcase another story I am currently working on in the coming year, so keep an eye out.
I really wanted this character to be different than most my other characters. This robot is complicated and self-destructive, a real change from my usual lighthearted books. I guess the whole idea is for
every project to be as different as possible to not pigeonhole myself to one genre. The main part is he's just real fun to draw! Beer ,Ghettos, Cassette Tapes, Art, this really hits home in some ways, but the character himself is a different story. This could take a long time to iron out if I were to dive deeper into his world. The idea is ,for his beliefs to totally clash with my own, I actually edited the original
dialog because I was unsure of the negative reaction it might receive among readers. I didn't change that completely ,I just toned him down. He didn't need to be so brash on his initial outing.
Well,Enjoy!

Hey, Thanks for commenting Guys. As for your querys, Melia, all colouring was done in photoshop and mostly just gradients were used ,I think. I even tried my hand at some photoshop colouring finishing up some things Ryan missed. I'll have to get used to some of that cause I know friends will only do pain-in-the-ass favours for so long, just ask Mike A to help you move 5 or 6 times(like we did!).

I love it too. I think he's an awsome character, as for the darkness I think it should be a darker character, makes him more interesting. I'm so used to the usual lovable robot characters on tv and movies. It makes me sick! In a world of humans I think that being a robot would be kinda depressing with nobody the same as you. Anyways love your drawing as I always have. Keep up the comics. This is the best media to display your talents. Until you get your first real big check!

i love it! was this colored and shaded by hand or computer? for the record, bring on more online comics!! ...as for toning down the dark, dark is good..that's why spawn is so awesome..self loathing is relatable. but you know my batman bias, i'm definitely more of a fan of the brooding than the cheerleader.
