Book Review Time....



On a recent trip through Missoula, MT, we went into a store I once frequented as a youth called Rockin' Rudy's. RR is a delightful montage of music, vintage items, oddities, stickers, books, jewelry and license plate purses. (ahem...and much more, of course.

While enjoying a sloppy browse for last minute holiday gifts, a bookshelf tucked away in the stationary corner caught my eye and I tronned on over. A sudden 'Holy shit! No way!?!' escaped my gaping mouth. My husband, who is quite accustomed to my excitement when we visit this store, rushed over to find me with a death grip around my new find.

Behold...STICKERBOMB...'with over 250 peelable stickers' by Laurence King Publishers.

Stickerbomb is a collection of some seriously talented graffiti writers, animators and illustrators who have come together to produce a collection of exclusive stickers.  Suridh Hassan and Ryo Sanada of SRK have done an immense amount of research to put this book together. There are a couple of little interviews in the very front and very back pages, along with 58 pages of some of the craziest stickers you'll ever see. Well, until the second book is published (don't worry, we'll let you know).

A great part of this book is in the front pages where they put forward the modern way stickers are used and why they are so important. Calling out their form of anonymous political statements, free public art, territory tags, band or brand support.

This book is so nuts that when I got home, I decided that I needed a second one, so I could have one to keep and the other to share. My recommendation is to just get yourself two. I will tell you that when I called Rockin' Rudy's to order it, they said that they were currently sold out and wouldn't be ordering any for a while...so the best way to get your hands on Stickerbomb, is to contact Laurence King Publishers directly.
