Larger than Life brings together artists from Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver whose works explore contemporary forms of realism.  The artists in this group exhibition will exhibit a variety of mediums from oil painting and gold leaf techniques to stencil painting and pencil and ink illustrations.  William Chad Willsie and Kevin Ledo’s paintings examine the ideologies and techniques of persuasion found in advertising and from the omnipresent mass media. Indigo’s stencil paintings embrace a more soft and poetic direction, capturing her subjects in moments of quiet melancholy, while Morgan Jeske’s illustrations demonstrate masterful line work under the influence of the comic book and cartoon world.

Calgary artist, William Chad Willsie, is a graduate from the Alberta College of Art and Design with a bachelor degree in painting. Willsie’s paintings are culturally and socially charged and explore the “hyper-real.”

wallfarmers[dot]caMontreal artist, Kevin Ledo’s work flirts with prevalent persuasive imagery and investigates perceptions of idealism, beauty and divinity. Ledo is presently exhibiting at the ModeMuseum in Hasselt, Belgium and has been featured in Juxtapoz Magazine.

Vancouver artist, Indigo, is an international visual and performance artist whose body of
work spans many different disciplines, including stencil art, dance, photography and writing. Recently Indigo contributed as a main artist for Vancouver’s “Paint Your Faith” collaboration art project.

Vancouver Artist, Morgan Jeske, is an illustrator, writer and comic book editor. The line work in Jeske’s illustrations describe form almost effortlessly, although Jeske enjoys the imperfection of line and how it reveals the hand of the artist.
