November 20th was the opening show for Fever Ocean, art exhibit of Tim Barnard at Vancouver's most hype retail/gallery shop, El Kartel.
Tim's show was not a wallfarmers endeavor, but since he's a friend, as well as the El K. team, I did what I could to shuttle, hang work and dork out to the best of my ability.
Tim was in town to rock a huge 3 wall plus ceiling mural at the new Aldo store opening on Granville across from the Stanley Theatre. I was pretty busy so I didn't have time to get shots of the mural but check his site to see the completely bananas piece he did for these guys.
The days leading up to Fever Ocean were filled with other shows, beers with friends, trying not to get sick again and firming up some projects for 2010. No, not the Olympics, the year.
Matt Andres from Victoria came over to check out the Drawing on Vancouver show at Walrus and as he puts it, 'pose as hard as we can'.

So, yeah, Fever Ocean. About 80 pieces covered the walls of El Kartel for the mostly crowed show on the 20th. Mr. Barnard showed 2 canvases, a handful of works on Bristol board and a shit ton of amazingly diverse sketchbook artifacts.

There is no question that Tim Barnard's work is pure talent. When you go in to El K to check out the show and do your Christmas shopping, if you can do so without being painfully in the way, take your time to stand in front of those drawings and take in the details.
Tim also designed a dope t-shirt and hoodie image for El Kartel. So much detail pressed through! It's a limited run (I think) so get yours and support the likes.
