Matt Andres (Victoria, BC)..this fella has changed his style so much over the years yet always remains very solid. Carefree dudes with grappling arms and intense lines...Matt's detailed work is more like a journey than a drawing. Matt's work continues to surprise me and at the rate of his progression, I think this is a modest beginning to his future as an artist.

Edison Rojas (Vancouver, BC)...one of the most kind humans I know. Edison was working at a print shop in Vancouver and dealing with my weird requests for wallfarmer stickers when he quietly asked if he could email me the link to his website. We've been solid friends ever since. Beyond that, his work legit and otherwise is awesome! Edison's letters are a true representation of his lasting talent and versatile nature.

Choplogik/Russell Alton (Vancouver, BC) ...quiet and unassuming, Chop's style is absolutely unique and cause for celebration. After seeing his scrolling letters and fluid characters, they sit on my brain and are very consuming. His work is like Medusa, you kind of just turn to stone trying to figure out how the hell... Chop is talented, very very obnoxiously talented. It's awesome.

Mandy Tsung (Vancouver, BC)...first of all, Mandy is an adorable human. Humble and darling and has tremendously beautiful images that she paints over and over and over again. She has a farm of pouting ladies whispering tales of love, loss and a don't-fuck-with-me stare. Over time, the introduction of brilliant colour and woodland creatures, sinister horns and exotic flowers display the many facets of Mandy's work.
Taka Sudo (Whistler, BC)...astounding artist and incredibly kind, Taka is the quintessential 'talented nice guy'. His painted characters, both animal and 'human' are timeless and distinctive and casually walk the line between fine art and lowbrow. Taka's humble personality, friendliness and devotion to his craft has made him a friend that I have huge respect for.
Parskid (Seattle, WA)...his work was first introduced to me a few years back when I got a t-shirt from my friend Zach at Harpoon Market (which is now dormant until further notice). Parskid's work is definitely from a fantasy world where the situation could go either way in most images. I often see a piece and hold my breath a little while I let my imagination figure it out...sometimes it never does, and that's radical. I wish my trapper-keeper in grade school had his images on it...I would have kept it.
Rolf Hill (Comox Valley, BC)...I've been friends with Rolli for many years and have always known that he was talented and skilled. When I told him about the gallery, he said, 'hey, wanna see my masks?' ... well, I wasn't quite ready for the totally outrageously detailed and kinda fucked up these masks actually were. Hours and hours of tedious planning, sketching, paper mache, and painting... All his masks are what he calls 'party ready' and with the assistance of a straw, you can still enjoy your beverages while wearing each of these completely insane creatures.
So, there you have it...a line up of fantastic people and very talented artists will be ready for your consumption on Thursday September 8th 7:30-11pm
But that's not all folks, the next night, Friday Sept. 9th, from 7:30-10pm, is the Catalina Art Mixer! Artists, come get inspired, bring your sketch books, paints and friends and enjoy arting amongst the inspiring work of the aforementioned artists. Artists like Rolf Hill and Scott MacDonald will be present as well. This is open to the public.
SOOO...
